Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled General Service Technician who is passionate about maintaining and repairing vehicles to join our team. As a General Service Technician, you will play a crucial role in inspecting, diagnosing, and performing general maintenance and repairs on various automobiles. Your exceptional technical skills, attention to detail, and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment will be essential to ensure our customers' vehicles are safe and reliable.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct inspections and perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire rotations, tire replacements, filter replacements, and fluid checks to keep vehicles in optimal running condition.
- Diagnose minor mechanical and electrical issues by utilizing diagnostic tools and following established repair procedures.
- Perform minor repairs to engines, brakes, suspension systems, exhaust systems, and other components.
- Utilize computerized systems to input and retrieve vehicle data and diagnostics.
- Maintain accurate and thorough records of services performed, parts used, and costs associated with repairs.
- Adhere to safety standards and procedures while handling hazardous materials and operating equipment.
- Keep inventory of tools, parts, and supplies, and promptly report any shortages or required replacements.
- Communicate effectively with customers to provide information regarding vehicle issues, repair recommendations, and estimated completion times.
- Provide exceptional customer service, actively engaging with customers to address any concerns and ensuring their satisfaction.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent. Automotive trade school certification or relevant vocational training is a plus.
- Proven experience as a General Service Technician or similar role in an automotive repair shop.
- Knowledge of vehicle mechanics, including engine systems, electrical systems, brakes, and suspension.
- Proficient in using shop equipment and computerized systems to diagnose and repair vehicles.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to handle physical demands of the job, including standing, lifting heavy objects, and working in various weather conditions.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Outstanding communication and customer service skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical individuals.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
Preferred:
- ASE certifications or other relevant certifications.
- Experience working with a variety of vehicle makes and models.
- Knowledge of automotive regulations and safety standards.
